Ignite Youth Camp

August 9 - August 25, 2018

In August 2018, Beacon of Hope will be hosting our first Ignite Youth Leaders Camp in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe and Iganga, Uganda. We will teach student leaders character development and discipleship. The attendees will be selected from students that have attended the Smart Choices AIDS prevention program in Zimbabwe, Zambia and Uganda.  The students will be selected by the Smart Choices team leaders.  There will be about 60 students and camp leaders at each camps.

  • For the Victoria Falls camp the the students will come from the three areas in Zimbabwe, Harare, Bulawayo, and Victoria Falls, and from two cities in Zambia, Ndola, and Kitwe.
  • For the Uganda camp the students will be drawn from Ignaga and Jinja districts of Uganda.  

The purpose for this leadership camp is to Ignite an excitement among the Smart Choices students about the potential of being include in a vacation camp.  It is also to prototype discipleship material and promote and encourage a discipleship lifestyle among the participants. To encourage them to create their own discipleship groups among their friends or class mates at school. 

Beacon of Hope has to cover the expense for all of the African students and camp counselors for travel, accommodation and meals, and possibly immigration documents for the Zambian participants. Our fundraising goal is to cover the African expense is as shown in the thermometer below.

The American participants mission trip participants are responsible for raising their own funds so cover the trip expenses. Participants require $3400 (estimated)
